ZeneScene iphone app has arrived in Austin

Spring.net talked to Valerie Cason of the new iphone social and location app ZeneScene and she says that “since SXSW we have had a turn around in the focus of spreading the word about ZeneScene. Learning the locals is of utmost importance to me now. We’re looking to find the most organic ways to showcase the available resources ZeneScene provides, without coming across as just another ‘in your face’ campaign. The Drag tends to be the home of many connections and meetings for ZeneScene. I’ve found the open seating, tables turned into desk to be a great atmosphere for research and recruit. I’ve found a home in Caffe Medici and a go to coffee and sunshine session. Searching for additional team members is our next goal. Of course, user increase is always of high priority- we just want our platform for the people to be embraced by Austin communities. We’re looking for locals to share their stories, favorite places, and use our app to document and scrapbook their happenings.

ZeneScene brings intimacy to global location-based applications. Instead of showing pictures and reviews to all of your friends on Facebook, you have the option to share with your friends around you, see a live feed from happening events and showcase your favorite places without public posts to ‘the world’.

Zenescenes event focus is a differentiating factor that I find most interesting. Not only are they in tune with local happenings, their artificial intelligence narrows the scope to plan your social agenda. Though ZeneScene can be used as a check-in platform, the additional resources available to each user- live maps, directories, photos, automatically calculated favorites, friends, and EVENTS- provide each user with a ‘Genius for iTunes’ for their entertainment lives.

    Valerie Cason

For Valerie, there is not a much more pleasant setting than soaking up sunshine with a cup of joe and something to write about. She’s found she works better with the option of direct rays nearby, and have found the patios of coffee shops in Austin to feed her fire for work. Valerie says that their best innovations to the ZeneScene app have come from talking with locals about what they enjoy most about Austin events and entertainment, in natural atmospheres.

They try to attend as many events as possible to meet just these people- locals looking to enjoy what the city offers. Free music events seem to be the best, as they are often less showcased than more mainstream shows. Val says they are always looking to make sure the ZeneScene system is full of events going on, hence their need to have the community embrace their platform. Anyone can add events- bands, artists, bar owners, fans, etc., just by going to austin.zenescene.com

As for expansion- they’ve recently developed the technology to turn on ZeneScene- 10 cities at a time. Keeping each city its own is important to ZeneScene, as they want each user to feel as if ZeneScene was created for their area, even their personality. They’re wanting to finalize their user research in Austin, and expand numbers of users before city expansion is put into action.  Try it out, it’s your chance to get in on the ground floor of an emerging new app. Valerie and ZeneScene are listening and waiting for your ideas.  ZeneScene on Twitter.
