The stats are in. 100 new people a day come to Austin. How do you react
to this? What attracts these folks? Why Austin? Is it the plethora of
jobs? Or the unique hipness? Or the environment? Where do these new folks
land?

Well, that's partlly why I can't come back--it changes the place too much.

I divided the annual figure by 365 and it's actually around 70 or so a day.
I guess the growth has started to taper off a bit. I'll try and find
some real numbers to post.

Brandon is going to apply for a position back in Austin... if we come back (which I'm pretty sure WON'T happen) would we count as some of the 100 even though we lived there before??

That was in 2003.

The novelty of driving by Ebay campus on my way to Whole Foods, sharing a zip code with Intel and using the Adobe building as a landmark when I give directions to my house, still has not worn off.
There is a ridiculous amount of 'the new,new thing' going on here and I enjoy being in the thick of it.
That said, there is also an enormous pool of VERY, VERY smart individuals here who all seem to be Type A personalities. Businesses don't open until 10am because employees regularly work until 10pm the day previous.
But, unrealted to the industry, I LOVE the fact oranges (figs, nectarines, cherries, plums, pears, etc.) grow on trees in my backyard! The weather is fabulous and, having been such a fan of the Rocky Mountains, I am surprised at how much I enjoy our proximity to the ocean!
