Topic 42 of 69 [collecting]: Maps Response 15 of 24: (sprin5) * Tue, Oct 31, 2000 (08:03) * 1 linesMy favorite map these days is the plastic laminated map of Austin, no more torn up paper maps! I wish more maps came out this way, that seems to be the trend.

Topic 42 of 69 [collecting]: Maps Response 18 of 24: Maggie (sociolingo) * Thu, Jun 14, 2001 (11:15) * 1 linesOh? I got a laminated map of Mali when I was there ..but that is placemat size and stiff. brought a lot of maps home with me .. they are SO difficult to get there ..like a lot of other things ....Made a photocopy of the local school area for some of the teachers we were working with .. they were thrilled. there is no electricity at the school so they cant make copies of anything themselves.

I am still tracking down a map of New Zealand, but I think I will not be satisfied till I have their equivalent of the USGS quadrangle maps or the UK's Ornance Survey.
Topic 42 of 69 [collecting]: Maps Response 21 of 24: Paul Terry Walhus (terry) * Fri, Jun 15, 2001 (09:09) * 3 linesI think the ideal thing for maps would be to have a section where you had those pull out displays like they have in stores. Maps take up so much space on walls, there's got to be a better way to display a lot of maps.
