Topic 5 of 10 [dsm]: General Information - The Direct Stock Market

Dear Clay,
I am MD of a UK Website developer, Arq Ltd, based in the World Heritage City of Bath. In a previous incarnation I ran an environmental goods mail order company, not disimilar from Real Goods of Ukiah, California. That was called The Green Catalogue Ltd. We were one of the first small companies to do a public share issue outside any "normal" stock exchange.

Two or three points to get your response on:
1) One of the sites Arq has built is Ethical Business, a directory of everything you could possibly want to know about socially responsible investment and business practices. We are in discussion about setting up a "green angel" scheme on the Web - any comments?
2) Arq needs to finance some serious growth and is considering a public stock offering on the Web - is there any reason why we can't do it thru you or are we still tied to the legislation of our physical geography?
3) I am coming to LA tuesday week and could meet with you if there is interest.

Our Web site: http://www.arq.co.uk where you find most of our other activities.

We can easily set up a section for the UK market,I'm afraid you are tied to the geographical thing as far as investors go. Sorry I didn't get
your posting earlier. I would have loved to get together with you in
LA.

I think you could model your efforts from some of the "socially
responsible" mutal funds that exist. Calvert Funds comes to mind.

Let us know how we can help

Dear Clay,
I need to know step by step instructions on how to get started buying and
selling stocks with dsm. I would also like to know if there is any way to receive
recomendations or advise on buying stock.
Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Darren Dennis

Dennis:

First, for now you will only be able to buy stocks from companies listed with DSM. We have a pending "No Action" request with the SEC that will allow us to operate a bulletin board for the trading of securities in public companies.

We anticipate analysts providing supporting information about these companies, although there are none available at this time.

Look at some of the investor education sites that are available or join a local investment club to learn how to analyze stocks. We hope you will join our community of "adventure" investors and thanks for using the DSM!

Clay
