Willie! Gotta have this topic. Last time I saw Willie was in
the Continental Club down on Congress Av. If the WELL has the
Greatful Dead, the Spring's gotta have Willie. Come out of the
woodwork, Willie Nelson fans!

Willie Nelson has (unknown to him) won two Sam Blob Awards:
Sam Blob's Jimi Hendrix Award, for artists whose guitars sing better than they do, and
Sam Blob's Bob Dylan Award, for singer-songwriters whose songs sound better when sung by other singers!
There is also a Sam Blob's Willie Nelson Award, this for singers whose singing wouldn't sound any different if their mouths were taped shut.
My favourite Willie Nelson song is Waylon & Willie's "Write Your Own Songs"!

I knew that someone would laugh at my jokes some day!
But seriously, Willie Nelson is one of the most nasal singers I have ever heard (hence the Willie Nelson Award!)

lots of nasal singers out there, lots of "can only sing in the recording
studio" talents too!

Paul Busskirk, world's greatest mandolin player and the guy who taught Willie Nelson to play guitar, is dead of diabetes complications at 78. He died at his home in Nagadoches, Texas. A big, burly guy with scraggly beard and hair to complete with Willies, the paper shows a picture of him today arm in arm with Willie.

This shortly after the death of fellow Outlaw Waylon Jennings.
"Mr. Purified Country, don't you know what the whole thing's about?
Is your head up your a$$ so far that you can't pull it out?
The world's getting smaller, and everyone in it belongs,
And if you can't see that, Mr. Purified Country, why don't you just write your own songs?!"

Waylon is who made The Highwaymen into a thing of art and beauty. As I said somewhere in here, I bought two copies of the CD.
